Sport Science analyses, through scientific principles, how the human body reacts during exercise and sport. Sports Scientists analyse how physical activity and exercise generate health in the athlete and through detailed knowledge of systems ensure our footballers can fulfil their full potential.
This is an area that has developed rapidly in the last 2 decades. Our Sports Scientists are part of a multi-disciplinary team contributing to the athletic development of FTFC Professional players as well as those registered with the clubs Academy & FTIFA programs.
FTFC’s Sports Scientists have responsibility for managing and overseeing the design, planning and delivery of cohesive, systematic & bespoke strength and conditioning programmes for the first team, Academy & FTIFA players to facilitate high performance and reduce injury risk.
Our staff provide performance support to players and coaches & work in conjunction with colleagues across the Performance Department to ensure that players at all levels of the performance continuum are appropriately supported to optimise their performance in training and competition.
Physiotherapy and Injuries
All FTIFA players will have access to the club’s physios. Any sporting injuries picked up whether in training, during matches or whilst using the club gymnasium will be treated on site by our highly qualified, experienced physiotherapy team to get players fit again as soon as possible.
Video Analysis and PMA
All games will be videoed for analysis purposes with clips being uploaded to the players own Performance Management Application ‘PMA’ software account for the player to review. The PMA is an online individual player develop system used throughout professional football in England for academy players aged 8 years old through to 1st team players.
Players will have their own private log in details and have their own personal individual learning plans ‘ILPs’ created and reviewed through written and videoed feedback on a weekly basis.
All players who attend FTIFA will automatically be covered for sporting injuries that happen during training or match programmes by FTFC insurance. FTIFA require you to get personal accident & injury insurance to cover the duration of your stay with us. FTIFA will not pay any medical costs or other expenses accumulated from non-football injuiries that occur outside of the FTIFA programme & in players personal leisure time.
FTIFA players on 12 and 24 week courses will receive a full training kit package from our FTFC kit manufacturer, Hummel. Players on a 4 week course will be given the option to purchase a kit package at a cost price to FTIFA.
The games programme is a vital ingredient to the overall programme.
FTFC will provide a varied games programme against teams linked to both Premier League, EFL Clubs, private academies and from the grassroots game. Players will also play regular futsal fixtures. Selected FTIFA players, who show appropriate levels of development and talent will be given the opportunity to take part in showcase events run by FTFC in front of Premier League & EFL registered scouts.
